2 Corinthians 13:5

THE INWARD LIFE OF A STEWARD
Examining Self

Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?

One of the most defining characteristics of good and faithful stewards is the continual and honest self-examination of how well they are doing managing the Owner’s resources. Paul charges the believers in 2 Corinthians 13:5 to, Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test (NASB)? Self-testing can be the greatest challenge because if we are both the tested and the proctor, we can “cheat.” We can justify, we can rationalize our answers, and no one will know the difference. That is why we must allow the Owner to be the proctor as we examine and test our ways. Are we passing the test, if He is grading our stewardship? Think about it.
