2 Corinthians 8:9

THE OUTWARD LIFE OF A STEWARD
Choosing a Lifestyle

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.

Second Corinthians 8:9 says, For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich (NIV). Have you ever considered what Jesus gave up when He came to earth to save us? Talk about the ultimate lifestyle reduction! He abandoned a throne in Heaven for a cross on Calvary! This being true, there is one penetrating question that surfaces, “What does Jesus want us to do with the riches that we have gained from His voluntary poverty”? Did He make us rich solely for our own personal enjoyment, comfort and pleasure? Or, did He make us rich so that we could joyfully share our freely acquired riches on those who were still poor both physically and spiritually? Think about it.
