Matthew 6:20

THE OUTWARD LIFE OF A STEWARD
Giving

Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal.

Jesus gives us a compelling motivation for why we should be very excited about deploying as much of His resources that we manage as we possibly can. He tells us in Matthew 6:20, “Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal (NASB).” Take careful note: Who are we supposed to be storing up these treasures for? It is not God and it is not for others, but “for yourself.” Every time you give something away on earth, that same amount is credited to your heavenly account. The more you give, the more treasures in heaven! Incredible! And because this is true, you are never really giving anything away, you are simply transferring it into a different account – your heavenly account. Think about it.
