Matthew 6:24

THE INWARD LIFE OF A STEWARD
Viewing and Handling Possessions

No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:24, “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth (NASB).” Our single greatest battle is our battle over what master will we place on our throne to worship and serve? This is not merely a theoretical conflict that has little application to how we live. Each day, this battle for the throne rages within us. If you carefully evaluate how you are handling the material possessions you have been given control over, it should be obvious what master is sitting on your throne. When God observes what you are doing with His resources that you manage, who would He say is on your throne? Think about it.
