Viewing Their Purpose
Your kingdom come, Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.
In Matthew 6:10, Jesus tells his disciples to pray, Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven (NASB). The problem isn’t in heaven, but on earth. When we couple this prayer with His call for us to carry out His will in our lives, it takes on a much richer meaning. Because of our obedience to Christ, His Kingdom will come and His will will be done on our little part of the earth, as it is in heaven. His Kingdom and His will come to earth through our obedience. Considering this, we can pray, “Lord, help me obey You so I can bring your Kingdom and your will to earth as it is in heaven.” Think about it.
