Psalm 46:10

THE INWARD LIFE OF A STEWARD
Waiting

Cease striving and know that I am God.

American’s love the phrase, “Don’t just stand there, do something!” Get busy. Work hard. Don’t waste time. Be productive. Produce something. Get results. This thinking seems to make sense in the flesh. Our Father, however, gives us the opposite spin on this “do something” mindset. In Psalm 46:10, He commands us to, Cease striving and know that I am God (NASB1995). In other words, “Don’t just do something, stand there”. Is it possible that by slowing down, God might actually be able to make us more effective? Is it possible that the slower we go, the more useful we are to Him? One thing is for sure, it is a lot easier to hear from our Owner when we are still than when we are busy. Think about it.
