Psalm 50:10-12

THE INWARD LIFE OF A STEWARD
Understanding Ownership

For every beast of the forest is Mine, The cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird of the mountains, And everything that moves in the field is Mine. If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is Mine, and all it contains.

God makes a forceful ownership statement in Psalm 50:10-12. He states emphatically, For every beast of the forest is Mine, The cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird of the mountains, And everything that moves in the field is Mine. If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is Mine, and all it contains (NASB 1995). Two profound truths emerge from His assertion: (1) It all belongs to Me, and (2) I don’t need anything from you. As Creator of all that exists, including us, we must never embrace the silly notion that God somehow needs anything from us. When He allows us to do anything for Him or His Kingdom, it is entirely a demonstration of His love and grace, not an indication that He cannot do it without us. Think about it.
