1 John 3:17

THE OUTWARD LIFE OF A STEWARD
Giving

But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him.

John asks a penetrating questions in I John 3:17, But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him (NASB)? John connects what we have (the world’s goods), to what we see (your brother in need), and what we choose to do about it. His question is, if you choose to do nothing, how does the love of God abide in you? If we have resources and we see a need and we do nothing about it, John is calling us out: “How does the love of God abide in you?” His point is clear. Closing our heart to a need is not an acceptable response. We must learn to always say, “Yes. I will do something to help.” Think about it
