1 Timothy 6:9-11

THE INWARD LIFE OF A STEWARD
Viewing and Handling Possessions

But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

If you think working hard to make a lot of money is a good thing, listen to what Paul says about what you really get when you pursue riches. He says in 1 Timothy 6:9-11, But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs (NASB1995). Who wants temptation, snare, harmful desires, ruin, destruction, wandering from the faith and many griefs? Instead, Paul tells us in verse 11, But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness. Think about it.
